I love Theodore Roosevelt’s famous quote, “ Believe you can and you are halfway there”!
That quote resonates with me deeply because when I look back on what I have achieved in my life, I realize that when I believed that I could achieve something, even though I may not have had any idea at the time how I was going to do it, I would reach my goal.
After working with so many women who have made positive changes in their lives, I have found that they all have one thing in common… those who believed in themselves achieved what they truly wanted…time and time again.
Believing in yourself is crucial when you want to make a positive change in your life.
Why Believing In Yourself Is Important
When you believe in yourself you improve your chances greatly of achieving success. Your thoughts, your actions, and your feelings are in alignment with your goal which helps to propel you forward. Self-belief also helps to build your resilience muscle so you can bounce back from your failures with grace, rather than spiraling down the never-ending rabbit hole.
When you learn how to believe in yourself, you build the confidence necessary to embrace your inner strength and claim your personal power to thrive.
Where You May Struggle
Many women who come to me struggle with gaining the clarity necessary to achieve their goals. After talking with them, we typically uncover that lack of self-belief is one of the main reasons why they struggle. If you are one of these women, please know that you are not alone.
Common areas of struggle are:
- Lack of self-confidence
- Negative self-talk
- Lack of self-trust
- Lack of clarity
- Fear of success or fear of failure
- Self-doubt
- Anxiety
- Procrastination
How To Believe In Yourself
There are many ways to help you strengthen your belief in yourself and I would like to share a few effective and proven strategies that I use with my clients.
Change your narrative
Notice the story that you are telling yourself about the goal that you want to achieve. Most likely if you are struggling to reach your goal, you may have created a story that is not serving you. When negative narratives are replaying constantly in your subconscious, this can cause disempowering beliefs which steer you further away from your goal rather than propelling you forward. Once you are aware of the negative narrative, you can then replace it with a more empowering narrative to help move you forward in a positive direction.
Accomplish Tiny Goals First… and Celebrate Each One
Tiny goals achieved over time amount to great success.
Most women focus their energy on the ONE big goal without taking time to celebrate ALL of the tiny little wins along the way that helped them get there. Not only can this cause burnout and overwhelm but sadly our self-belief can take a hit along the way. When building self-belief, it is imperative that you set tiny, realistic little goals, such as drinking one extra glass of water a day, and after crushing your tiny goal, take a pause to celebrate yourself for your win. Each time you achieve a goal, you are building belief in yourself and motivating yourself to do more.
Surround Yourself With Positivity
Take note of who you are surrounding yourself with. Are you surrounded by people in your life who are inspiring and encouraging? Do you have a mentor or someone who can help you believe in yourself?
Ensure that you have at least one person in your corner who can help you grow your self-belief. This can fast-track you toward reaching your goals and living your very best life.
