“Will I always feel this way?”
If you’ve ever asked yourself this question late at night, when the house is quiet, I want you to know you’re not alone.
Watch the video below, or keep reading.
You’ve built a successful career and a life you’ve worked so hard for. And from the outside, it all looks good. But inside, you feel stuck. Overwhelmed. Maybe you’ve even started to wonder if your best years are behind you. And somewhere along the way, you lost touch with who you are outside of all the roles you play.
If this sounds like you, I’m so glad you’re here. There is a way forward, and it may be simpler than you think.
Why Feeling Stuck and Overwhelmed Can Feel Permanent
When you’ve felt stuck for a while, it can start to feel like this is just how life is now.
And when you’re tired and carrying so much, it’s really hard to picture anything different. Every day starts to feel the same.
For so many of us, there’s another piece to this. You’ve spent years taking care of everyone else. Your kids, your marriage, your team at work. Maybe your parents.
And over time, you put your own needs on the back burner.
So when everything feels like too much, it’s hard to know where to even begin. And when you can’t see a way forward, it’s easy to wonder if you ever will.
I also see a lot of women stay right where they are because it’s familiar. I call it being comfortably uncomfortable. It isn’t making you happy, but at least you know what to expect. And stepping into something new can feel a lot scarier than staying put.
What’s Actually True About Feeling Stuck and Overwhelmed
Here’s what I’ve seen again and again with the women I work with.
Your feelings are real, and they matter. But how you feel right now won’t last forever.
Feeling stuck doesn’t mean you are stuck. Usually it means you’ve outgrown something, and you just haven’t figured out what comes next yet. Nothing is wrong with you. There’s simply a part of you that’s ready for more.
Overwhelm doesn’t mean you can’t handle your life. You handle a great deal every single day. It usually means you’ve been carrying too much, for too long, without enough support.
And please know that it’s not too late. I see many women like you begin new chapters all the time, and they feel more like themselves than they have in years.
One Small Step to Feel Lighter Today
So how do you begin to feel a little lighter? It’s all about taking baby steps.
Today, I’d love for you to grab a cup of coffee or your favorite beverage and a piece of paper, find ten quiet minutes, and try this:
-> Write down everything that feels heavy right now. All of it, big or small. Just getting it out of your head and onto paper can bring a little relief.
-> Circle one thing that’s within your control. Look at your list and choose just one.
-> Take one small step forward today. Make the phone call. Answer the email. Ask someone for help. Or give yourself permission to let it go.
Then notice how you feel. Even if you feel just a little bit lighter, that matters.
That feeling is your proof that you’re not stuck forever. You can move forward, one small step at a time.
