Your Unique Gift

Your Unique Gift

You are needed.

There’s no other way to put it; the world needs you!

Occasionally, we might feel like we have nothing to offer and forget about the special qualities we have been bestowed with. This is detrimental not only to you, but to the rest of the world as well.

It’s easy to look at the special talents of others and feel amazed by what they have to offer, but it’s crucial that you remember that you have spectacular gifts to offer as well! When we spend too much time focusing on others, it can be easy for our unique gifts to become hidden.

As Marianne Williamson said, “Your playing small does not serve the world.” Burying what makes you unique is not doing anyone any favors! Trying new things, taking on new experiences, and stepping out into the world is important to find out what you are good at, what you enjoy, and what you *don’t* enjoy. You don’t have to be good at all the things; it is more than enough to find a few things that bring you happiness.

It’s also important to be our own best cheerleader. It’s too easy to stop ourselves before we even begin with our negative self-talk. Telling yourself “I’d never be good at that” or “there’s no way I could do that!” is no stifling your creativity and potential for enjoyment.

A few ways to spot your natural gifts might be:

  • Catching yourself when you think “I’m pretty good at that, but it’s nothing special. It’s just naturally what I do.” And stop right there because that is a gift!
  • Think about what kind of activities you are able to lose yourself in. What could you do for hours?
  • What was the last thing someone told you you were good at? Sometimes, it’s easier for others to notice our gifts.
  • What have you always enjoyed learning about? Your special interest might be your gift!

I encourage you to claim your gifts and to share them with the world
