Now I want to discuss one powerful strategy that you can begin using to help you when you are needing to protect yourself from other people’s energy. And let me tell you that this one tool has helped me and so many of my clients who have struggled with taking on other people’s emotions and negativity. The strategy that I am referring to is called shielding.
Shielding is a technique used to protect yourself from negative energy or negative influences. It involves visualizing a protective barrier, such as a shield or a bubble, around yourself to prevent negative energy from entering your space.
The concept of shielding is based on the idea that we are all surrounded by energy, and that energy can be either positive or negative. Negative energy can come from a variety of sources, such as stressful situations, negative thoughts or emotions, or the energy of other people. Shielding is a way to create a boundary around ourselves to prevent this negative energy from affecting us and it can be done in a number of ways, depending on your personal preference. Some people visualize a shield made of light or a bubble of protective energy around themselves. Others use physical objects, such as crystals or certain pieces of jewelry, to help them feel protected. I like to wear this bracelet that my daughter gave to me which has black tourmaline crystals that are believed to be a powerful crystal for protection and grounding. Every time I put it on it reminds me to stay grounded and centered.
If you are an empath or a highly sensitive person, shielding can be really helpful because it can help you to maintain your own energy while also preventing you from taking on other’s energy which oftentimes can cause you to feel overwhelmed and drained.
Another form of shielding that I recommend is to imagine that you are in your car and you are able to push the automatic button on your window at any time to roll up your window whenever you need to protect yourself from the outside. This is a great visual that we all can relate to. You can determine when you want to roll up your window to protect yourself and your energy or you can roll down your window when there is positive energy in the air. I have used this form of shielding countless times when I am in a situation where there is negative energy. I simply imagine that I am rolling up my window and it is protecting me from any negative energy so that I do not take it on… and the best part is, no one has any idea that I am doing it!
I encourage you to choose one shielding strategy and test it out the next time you are surrounded by negative energy. It can be a really powerful way to help you set boundaries and protect your own energy.
