Hello and welcome! My name is Lori Lander , certified Life Coach and founder of Lori Lander Coaching and I help women reach their full potential by teaching them the strategies and tools necessary to thrive in life and in business. I am so glad that you are tuning into today !
This episode is part of a series of three episodes in a row that covers the importance of optimizing three environments in your life …your social environment which I talked about in my first episode of this series, your physical environment which I talked about in the 2nd episode last week and today I will be covering how to optimize your mental or mind environment.
In order to set yourself up for success you need to take a look at your environments which consists of 3 areas, your social, physical and mental environments and then determine where there may be friction. This friction in your environment is most likely holding you back from reaching your full potential without you even realizing it. So it’s not only important to be aware of these environments but it is also really important that your environments are fully optimized.
In today’s episode I am going to be talking about:
- The most powerful and underutilized tool you have
- Three areas that your thoughts control each and every day
- The first step in learning how to optimize your mind
- One strategy to help you focus on empowering thoughts that help you thrive
So let’s dive in. I want to take a moment to talk about your mind. It truly is the most powerful and underutilized tool you have. The question is are you using your mind to its fullest potential? For so many women, they struggle in this area. Studies have shown that on average we have over 70,000 thoughts a day.
But here is where it gets interesting….think for a moment about how many of those 70,000 thoughts that you have on any given day you are actually aware of. And then of those thoughts that you are aware of, how many of those thoughts are positive and how many are negative? This is really an important question and this is what I want to talk to you about today.
You see, your thoughts control how you feel, how you respond and ultimately how you live your life. So if you are struggling in an area of your life, most likely it is due to disempowering thoughts that you are having day in and day out that are not serving you.
Your thoughts can be really powerful. They can set you up for massive success in your life or they can take you down countless rabbit holes which lead you to lots of heartache, stress and anxiety, which then can cause you to feel unmotivated and frankly stuck.
Now, here is the great news .Once you learn how to optimize your mind and take control of your thoughts, you can change your life for the better. The first step in the process of optimizing your mind is to begin to take notice of your thoughts throughout the day. If it helps to journal what comes up for you this can really help. But noticing your thoughts and learning how often you either have empowering or disempowering thoughts is key.
Once you have determined the disempowering thoughts that may be potentially holding you back, there are strategies and tools to help you rewrite or flip your thoughts to help you feel better, more motivated and excited about your life.
One way to help you flip a negative thought is to think of a more empowering thought that makes you feel good that you can immediately say to yourself when you notice the negative thought arise.
With repetition over time this disempowering thought tends to have less control over you as you focus more on the positive thought. And as a result these empowering thoughts can help you thrive.
So I encourage you to take some time beginning today and notice your thoughts as they come up and then notice how they make you feel. If you notice a negative thought come up, quickly replace that thought with a positive thought and continue this process.
With time and practice it gets much easier.
I hope that you found value in today’s episode.
