Wherever you go, there you are.
We all know time flies! It can feel like there is so much to do and not enough time to do it all. But that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t make an effort to slow down and savor the moment.
Regardless of what type of situation you are in, it is vital to remember that there is only right here, right now. It can feel like time is creeping by if it’s a situation that isn’t ideal, or it can feel like it is passing by at the speed of light if you’re having a good time.
Taking stock of each moment and taking the opportunities that are offered to learn and grow enable us to be fully present in our own lives.
“Realize deeply that the present moment is all you will ever have. Make the NOW the primary focus of your life.” ~ Eckhart Tolle
Being part of the present moment means you can enjoy what is going on all around you! You are casting your worries aside and not allowing them to control your current experience. You will only experience this exact moment once, so make sure to soak it up!
When it comes to being fully present in the now, there are a few things you can practice in order to make it more comfortable. Try focusing on your breath and noticing the little things that make up your environment. Listen to the sounds that are going on around you. Notice your thoughts, accept them, and let them go. Being mindfully present might take some effort, but embracing every moment is worth it!
When we focus on being in the here and now, we are able to appreciate everything life has to offer. We don’t have to stress about the moments we missed out on, fixate on past experiences, or worry about what the future holds. Stepping into the here and now means that we stop living in our heads and embrace our current circumstances.
Since it’s your life, you should be experiencing it to the fullest! Even the times that feel challenging or difficult often present some type of lesson that we carry with us.
Becoming comfortable simply being present can take some practice, and that’s okay! Challenge yourself to quiet the noise in your head, table the to-do lists for a moment, and let go of the need to control what is happening around you.
We can’t add more time to the clock, but we can be present and active participants in our life experiences. Enjoy the beauty and cherish the gift of now!
