Having a balanced life is essential for our mental, physical, and emotional well-being. It helps keep us grounded and gives us the clarity we need to make meaningful decisions. Without balance, our lives can feel out of sync and chaotic, leading to stress and confusion.  It’s important to recognize that balance is not a one-size-fits-all approach and has to be tailored to fit your specific needs. Creating a sense of balance is very possible to achieve by introducing habits that foster balance in all areas of your life.

My name is Lori Lander, Women’s Empowerment Coach and founder of Lori Lander Coaching and today I am going to be sharing with you 7 Essential Habits For A Balanced Life that you can adopt to help create and maintain a more balanced life:

Prioritize Time For Yourself

Self-care is essential, particularly when trying to create balance. So it is important to take time out for yourself and do activities that bring you joy. A  great hack that I recommend is blocking out time in your calendar for yourself. Whether it’s deciding to do nothing during that time or enjoying your favorite hobby, ensure you dedicate intentional time in your calendar so that it will make it easier for you to follow through. Remember, without a date, it’s a dream!

Cut Back On Overcommitment

Learning to say no and manage your commitments is important to having balance in life. Be honest with yourself about what you are able to take on and create realistic expectations, instead of taking on more than you can handle. By cutting back on overcommitment, you make fewer promises and focus your energy on what is most important. This will help you to reduce the stress associated with too many obligations and allow you to strike a balance in other areas of your life.

Meditate Regularly

Taking time each day to get quiet and just “be” is an important part of creating and maintaining a sense of balance within yourself and your environment. Even if you allow yourself to close your eyes and focus on your breathing for one minute a day, this can help reduce stress, improve concentration and bring greater clarity to help you focus better. Meditating allows you the opportunity to check in with yourself and to simply take a short time out from the hustle and bustle of our day. A wonderful app I highly recommend is called the CALM app. I use it every morning and many of my clients use it too and have told me how much they love it. So check it out!

Limit Social Media & Technology Usage

I know that it is very easy to get lost in the digital world when you have notifications, emails, and texts coming in all day long. But, to create some balance, it is essential to limit your exposure to technology and social media so that you’re able to stay focused on what matters most to you. A couple of  great hacks that work well in establishing some boundaries around the time you are spending on social is to turn off push notifications on your apps, unsubscribe from emails that tend to pull you down the neverending rabbit hole, or commit to setting time limits on when and how long you’ll use social media.

Get Organized

Getting organized helps with balance by reducing stress and giving you more control over your life. When you’re better organized,  your mind feels less cluttered which can help you prioritize tasks and activities more easily. With a better sense of mental clarity and focus, it’s easier to make decisions that lead to a healthier balance between work, family, and leisure time. One recommendation is to start with one area of your life where you are feeling unorganized. Once you determine where to begin, think about one tiny step you can take to move you towards feeling more organized. One small change can make a big difference. Most importantly, create a simple system that works for you.

Make Time For Exercise

Regular physical activity not only improves your health overall,  but it is a great way to elevate your mood, boost your energy, help you with mental focus, and help you manage stress and anxiety. One great way to begin implementing exercise into your daily routine is to set a very simple and achievable goal. Maybe your goal is to go outside and walk for 5 minutes or maybe your goal is to go on Youtube and find a 5-minute exercise video. Keep it simple. The key is to simply begin.

Spend Time Connecting With Others:

I love this quote by Brene Brown that says Connection is the energy that exists between people when they feel seen, heard, and valued; when they can give and receive without judgment; and when they derive sustenance and strength from the relationship. Such a great quote!  Connecting with others is essential for having a balanced and healthy life. It can provide you with emotional support that encourages growth, as well as building resilience. Interacting with other people can also give you a sense of belonging and acceptance while boosting your confidence and self-esteem. I challenge you now to think about one small action you can take today to connect with someone you care about.

Achieving balance is essential for your well-being and allows you to lead a healthier and more meaningful life. Incorporating these seven habits into your routine offers you a great starting point for creating lasting balance.
